ARE AIRSOFT GUNS TOYS? ARE THEY REPLICAS? OR ARE THEY FIRE ARMS?
Airsoft guns are not toys. Airsoft bb’s have been shown to do Significant damage to an eyeball. The Pigs eye test is how guns/air guns/spring guns are classified. If a projectile does significant dameage to an eyeball it is considered dangerous. If they were toys, and they look like real firearms they would be considered replicas. Replica Firearms are VERY illegal. Therefore if you paint a clear plastic toy black, it is now a replica fire arm and Illegal.
Airsoft guns should not be replicas !! They should not be talked about as replica firearms. They will be considered replica fire arms if they shoot less than 365 FPS (feet per Second), this is mostly for import and export, but it is the law. The proposed Bill C-21 will change this. ( edited June 162021)
Airsoft guns ARE firearms if used unlawfully, or if the shoot over 500 FPS with a force of 5.7 joules. If you do something Dumb with an Airsoft gun, the laws pretaing to you will likley be Firearms charges. If you are a parent of someone under 16 that does something Dumb, you maybe held responsible.
The laws have been updated, appealed and are enforced differently in different situations. The Boarder is very strict, and the inspecting officers enforce the laws / interpenetrate the laws however they see fit.
The laws Change pretty regularly, Don’t believe Everything you read on the Internet.
The laws have been tuned and adjusted since Airsoft business started to import Full metal, black Airsoft guns again about 2009.
Age limits are different for different types of fields and games across Ontario. At legitimate playing fields, the Age limit is usually dictated by Insurance requirements. Games are often organized by players, and those players can set the age limit for the games they organize. At Adrenaline public play days are open to players age 12 and up. If you are just getting into Airsoft and you are choosing between Airsoft and Paintball for you child. Call us. Paintball is much more youth friendly. We recommend the under 16 crowd starts with Paintball, but it is more expensive, The player may be strongly drawn to the realism of airsoft and his or her friends might already be involved in Airsoft. NOTE: the equipment might look and feel more realistic. But ALL Airsoft equipment is built like toys. Even the expensive Stuff. It might cost $550 but it is built like a $40 remote control car inside, and, they are really expensive to repair; if you can find someone to fix it. Truth !
Be aware that every Airsoft player is treated the same on the field. You should be aware that in Airsoft, unlike paintball there is no special treatment for children. Many Airsofters and Airsoft game operators at other places will only allow players 18 and up.
At Adrenaline we want to give every player the best experience possible. We have seen 1000’s, even 10’s of 1000’s of players get involved over the years. Paintball and Airsoft gaming is great exercise, it helps build healthy relationships, and it appeals to some youth that wouldn’t normally get excited about outdoor activities. We will be brutally honest when you ask questions; we want you and yours to be happy and involved. We don’t want you to spend a lot of money and get disgruntled and disappear. Question or concerns? Please feel free to ask.
The management is open and easy to talk to feel free to ask questions and voice your concerns.
First, why do you want to BYO?
We are a licenced Airsoft Facility. One of the few that was required to have a licence. We applied to host Airsoft games way back when Airsoft at fields was just starting. We are required by our licence to use only Approved Biodegradables. We do get surprise inspections from the LTVC Authority and our city. MOE has asked many BB questions.
What many players don’t know is that BBs and what they are made of is under scrutiny, and justifiably so. It would be irresponsible, and a threat to some fields ability to operate if they said “Bring what you got”. Some Outdoor fields are required in their licencing to use only approved Biodegradable ammo. Some fields are inspected. This is not a question you should expect a reply to on a public page.
If you want cool places to play buy you Ammo where they are building you cool stuff. Example. Adrenaline has a 15,000 sq. foot 2 story castle, with a spiral stair case. No online retailer or surplus store contributes to building cool shit. Airsoft cannot generate enough revenue to sustain a cool play space on admission alone.
Again: The management are open and easy to talk to feel free to ask questions and voice your concerns.

Adrenaline has been doing Airsoft since full metal black shooters became legal again over a decade ago. We host recreational types of play that are suitable for regular players ages 12+, fathers and sons/daughters, and veterans that just want to get out and play for fun. the Law and Airsoft is a moving target. the basics are simple If you do something dumb with and airsoft shooter you are into the firearms act. if your dependent does something done your both looking at a fire arms offence. you loose all your firearms and face 3 years and/ or $3000 in fines use, a case. take it seriously
